At Mercy Church, The Word is the foundation that reveals to us how to lead as Christ led and from this foundation stem the seven pillars or attributes that must be an integral part of each leader. In upholding these pillars collectively, we can continue to build from a place of strength.
Compassion is love in action; an outward expression of the love He has given us for others. (Ephesians 4:32; Matthew 14:14; Colossians 3:12-13).
Because He so generously gave, up to His life as a sacrifice for our sins, such that we are now justified and sanctified by the blood of Christ and have eternal life in Him, we also give generously (Proverbs 11:25; Luke 6:38; 2 Corinthians 9:7-11).
We treat each other as we ourselves would like to be treated (Matthew 7:12; Romans 12:10).
This allows us to go above and beyond our obligation as Christians and leaders in spreading the Gospel (Psalm 37:5; Proverbs 16:3).
Our passion is for people. It helps drive what we do (Ecclesiastes 9:16).
It is the joy He provides us with that equips us with the strength to get through the difficulty times (Nehemiah 8:10).
He is a God of excellence who deserves and exceeds our excellence (Daniel 6:3; Ephesians 6:7-8; 1 Peter 2:9; Philippians 1:9-10; Philippians 4:8).
